Chapter 9

In chapter 9, after Gatsby is killed, we learn that Nick can't find and family or friends of Gatsby. We also find that almost nobody comes to Gatsby's funeral. Gatsby had many parties and invited many people but had no real friends. The book ends on a rather sad note but a good one.

Chapter 8

We left off with Gatsby and Tom arguing about Daisy and basically everyone's affairs coming to an impass. Nick also learns about Gatsby's past with Daisy. “They had never been closer in their month of love, nor connected more profoundly one with another, than when she brushed silent lips against his coat’s shoulder or when he touched the end of her fingers, gently, as though she were asleep." You can tell from this that Gatsby is extreemly embarrased, angry, and dissapointed about Daisy saying she loved Tom. The interresting part is when Wilson thinks that Gatsby is cheating on his wife and kills him.

Chapter 7

In chapter 7, the story starts off by saying that it is very hot outside. From the previous chapters, we have learned that when it is raining and cold, the mood is awkward. But when it is hot, we can conclude that the mood is warm and perhaps Gatsby and Daisy are getting too close. During the begining ofthe chapter, Tom is very suspicious of Daisy and Gatsby and thinks he knows what is going on. We also find out many thingsthat we did not previously know about Gatsby like his real name, his college years, and his background. Tom uses this to insult Gatsby and ultimately wins the fight between himself and Gatsby when Daisy says that she loved Tom.

Chapter 5

In this chapter, Gatsby interacts more with Nick. Nick has set up a date between Gatsby and Daisy. The moment when Daisy arrives at Nick's house, Gatsby loses his cool and is completely nervous. But as the day progresses, he gets better. When they all go up to Gatsby's house, Daisy is completely in shock because of Gatsby's wealth. But you can also tell that Gatsby is using his wealth to his advantage by showing Daisy how rich and successful he is.

Chapter 3

The chapter begins with Nick recieving an invitation to go to Gatsby's party. Nick at first is surprised because he never recieves party invitations but goes anyway. While at the party, Nick meets Jordan and spends the night with her. Everyone talks about many stories of Gatsby's background life. Nick is called down to meet gatsby. Gatsby began interacting with Nick when he realized that Nick was affiliated with Daisy. One explanation of this may just be the fact that Gatsby is just using Nick to get to Daisy.

Chapter 1 post

Most of Nick's narratoin takes place in the present. Nick has strong opinions on many characters in the story including Gatsby. Nick both scorns and admires Gatsby at the same time. He doesn't know Gatsby very well but he dislikes him for his wealth but he admires him because of his solemnity. He realizes that although Gatsby has achieved his American dream, he has no real friends and is ultimately not happy.
